about
Following the immense success of his recent 1000 Beasts collab Glass Magic, a sell-out Dublin debut and an Irish tour with Hausu labelmates, Arthur Valentine experiments further with an electronic direction on Rocket Fuel, releasing June 24th on Hausu. Adding dense yet delicate drum programming and atmospheric synth pads to his smooth vocal performance and slick songwriting, this standalone single launches a productive season for Arthur Valentine.
-
Arthur Valentine has always been open about taking inspriation from forward-thinking names in pop and R&B like Frank Ocean, BROCKHAMPTON, Charli XCX and Toro Y Moi, but Rocket Fuel more clearly leans into the spacious atmospheric synths and dense-yet-delicate kinetic drum programming at the genre’s cutting edge, drawing from production influences including Vegyn, John Glacier, Oli XL and Iglooghost.
The track is set to arrive alongside a music video made directed by one of the track's producers Jack Corrigan, also known as Hausu artist Actualacid. The video is a DIY sci-fi cut, wrapping the windows of a car with green screens. The cover art draws from that video, showing Arthur and the track's producers in this improvised spaceship.
The track is part of an overall slide into a more electronic sound in a new wave of material from the artist throughout 2022 — having already started with a collaboration on 1000 Beasts’ latest single Glass Magic – featured on electronic-leaning Spotify editorial playlists including New Music Friday Cratediggers, Irish Dance and A Breath of Fresh Éire - and set to continue through the rest of the year with other upcoming solo tracks Focus and 405.
